The 18th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education successfully held


On June 29, 2017, The 18th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education, initiated and organized by the International Artificial Intelligence Society (IAIED Society) and hosted by Central China Normal University saw over one hundred experts in the field of Artificial Intelligence in Education in Wuhan. This is the first time for this series of international conference to be held in China. Vice Sectary Hong Qin with CCNU attended the opening ceremony and extended warm welcome to guests from home and abroad.

Professor Tanja Mitrovic from University of Canterbury, New Zealand, Research Professor Richiiro Mizoguchi form Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Professor Ronghuai Huang from Beijing Normal University and Professor Sannvya Liu from Central China Normal University were invited to make keynote speeches on ‘From Databases to Prospective Memory: the Sega of CBM Continued’, ‘An AI Methodology and a New Learning Paradigm’, ‘A Conceptual Framework for Smart Learning Engine’and ‘Quantified Learning’ respectively.

Topics in the conference included Game-Based Learning, Supporting teachers in their teaching, Learner Behaviors and Affect, Virtual Learning Companions and Text,Learning Support, Metacognitive Modeling, Inquiry, Assessments, and Strategy, Programming, Invention, and Reading Comprehension, AIED Trend in East Asia, Affect, Engagement, and Misconceptions, Assessment and Collaboration, etc.

The conference created wonderful chances for academic exchanges for researchers in the relevant field and presentation for young researchers, especially doctoral students. The conference ended successfully on July 1, 2017.
